About us
Based in Lowestoft on the east coast of England, JME Ltd, was formed in 1986 for the purpose of developing and manufacturing a range of specialist non-destructive inspection systems for sale worldwide, and to engage in the design and development of systems and equipment for 'one-off' or unusual inspection and quality control projects.
The company began with a product base of JME pipeline X-Ray and Gamma-ray crawlers. JME pipeline crawlers soon gained an excellent reputation as being reliable, cost effective, and extremely versatile.
The product range expanded to include the unique JME portable high energy X-Ray Betatron,now available with outputs of 2.5MeV, 6MeV, 7.5MeV & 9MeV, with its thick section capabilities, portability and minimal power supply requirements the Betatron is widely used by many different industry sectors.
Work on the crawler range continued, the addition of the JME CXT180 X-Ray tube improved the performance in the 6"-18" OD range with additional tube options expanding the capabilities still further. The JME pipeline crawlers are now able to provide a solution for pipe diameters from 6" - 72".

JME's Founder:
John William Macleod (1938 - 2006)
During the 1960's John headed geoseismic exploration teams in remote regions of the world, using reflective shock waves to locate and identify potential hydrocarbon - bearing strata (anticlines) at sub - surface depths of up to several kilometres, prior to commencement of wildcat drilling.
In the 70's John applied his expertise in the development and manufacture of remotely controlled self contained x-ray machines (internal crawlers) for the radiographic inspection of circumferential (butt) welds in long distance onshore and subsea pipelines during construction.
In order to progress and extend his engineering concepts, John formed his own company, John Macleod Electronics (now JME Ltd) in 1986 and among many important innovations and developments, his ongoing legacy continues.

Where opportunities for improvement are identified appropriate action is taken and subsequently monitored for effectiveness.
